This September, the Ayurveda Health Retreat (AHR) is hosting 60 hours over 6 days of Ayurveda training.

Level one is not required for attending the Level two class, but some bodywork experience and basic Ayurveda

understanding is required.

You will learn the science and Ayurvedic techniques listed below:

  • Abhyanga - Ayurvedic Four Handed Massage (and two-handed)

  • Svedhana - Ayurvedic Steam Treatment

  • Shirodhara - Ayurvedic Vata Balance with Oil on Forehead

  • Nasya - Therapeutic Nasal Oil Treatment

  • Netra Basti - Therapeutic Eye Rejuvenation

  • Kati Basti - Therapeutic Lower Back Rejuvenation

  • Ayurvedic Yoga for Balancing the Doshas

  • Foundations of Ayurveda & Panchakarma

The Ayurveda Health Retreat has successfully treated many hundreds of patients using the ancient science of Traditional Panchakarma.

Ayurveda uses many techniques to create balance, including various forms of body massage. But this is not a regular Swedish or deep tissue massage - the unique quality of Ayurvedic massage is its ability to create a fully rejuvenating experience.

Each treatment uses Ayurvedic medicated herbal oils to support detoxification of the tissues and balance and strength in the body. The traditional four-handed technique is like a dance, as the two therapists flow through the over 108 synchronized movements. All of our massage oils are made according to ancient recipes. We order them from an Ayurvedic Pharmacy in India where the wild-crafted herbal infusions are added to the oil, bringing forth their medicinal properties. The herbs, oils, and water are simmered for up to 8 hours to infuse the blend with its healing quality. The subtle qualities of the herbs are transferred through the message to bring balance and healing.

In addition to the use of therapeutic oils, Marma therapy is used during the Ayurvedic massage. Marmas are energy points, similar to Chinese Acupuncture points. Over 75 of the 108 Marma points are the same as Acupuncture points. Gentle massage and pressure to the marma points will balance the doshas and assist in healing.

Swedhana(aromatherapy steam) - After your massage, relax as your mind and body are enveloped in a soothing steam bath. Swedhana improves peripheral circulation and this treatment allows the Ayurvedic oils to penetrate deeper into the tissue, enhancing the detoxification process. It strengthens the immune system and moisturizes the skin, making it soft and smooth.

Nasya (nasal therapy) - During this therapy, several drops of medicated oil are administered into each nostril. This opens and cleanses your nasal and sinus passages, enhancing the flow of oxygen to the brain. It may relieve allergy and sinus conditions and improve your memory.

Shirodhara - During this relaxing therapy, a continuous stream of warm Ayurvedic oil flows over your forehead. Shirodhara is used to heal chronic neuromuscular disorders and Vata imbalances: hypertension, insomnia, depression, anxiety, headaches, and restlessness. It can also have a powerful spiritual effect on the mental and emotional well-being of the individual.

A 60 hour Ayurveda Bodywork Diploma is given upon graduation.
