Price: $30 includes the class and dinner
The Six Tastes of Ayurveda:
Sweet: oils, sugar, milk, butter, ice cream, wheat, oats, rice
Sour: cheese, yogurt, lemon juice, citrus and sour fruits, vinegar, alcohol, fermented foods
Salty: salt
Bitter: leafy greens, lettuce, tonic water, turmeric, fenugreek, eggplant
Pungent: cayenne, peppers, ginger, cumin, spicy foods
Astringent: legumes (beans and lentils), pears, apples, potatoes, persimmons, cranberries, pomegranates
Tastes to Pacify Doshas:
Vata: sweet, sour and salty
Pitta: bitter, astringent and sweet
Kapha: bitter, astringent and Pungent
If you are unsure of your Ayurvedic body type the following guidelines are helpful:
In cold, dry weather, favor sweet, sour and salty tasting foods - balance vata
In cool, wet weather, favor bitter, pungent and astringent foods - balance kapha
In hot weather, favor sweet, astringent and bitter tasting foods - balance pitta
