Seva Internship

 

Seva means selfless service in Sanskrit. 
The motto of the Ayurveda Health Retreat is:

We are now offering a one to three-month internship for motivated individuals looking to expand themselves, create a healing environment for guests and experience an Ayurvedic lifestyle. Our hands-on approach to integrating the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda with our present-day lives guarantees a fulfilling, empowering, life-changing experience.

Job Description 

During your stay, you will serve approximately 30 hours per week. Responsibilities include 2-3 hours of retreat maintenance and kitchen assistance per day. The remainder of your work time will be spent on creative projects aimed at helping the retreat flourish.

 

Work Areas

 

Kitchen - Making tea, preparing breakfast, setting tables, clean-up and learning how to stock a retreat kitchen.

Maintenance - Cleaning, gardening, laundry, restocking treatment rooms, keeping the retreat running smoothly. 

Office Support - Website and computer support, errands, telephone and e-mail response.

Marketing - Advertising at community events and creating & distributing flyers. 

Event Planning - Organizing events which may include workshops, musical performances, monthly potlucks and open houses.

 

Yoga Ashram

An ashram is a spiritual living environment that encourages personal growth. You will be staying at our Yoga Ashram located across the street from an outdoor recreation facility. Both the Ayurveda Health Retreat and historic downtown Alachua are within walking distance.
In order to foster an Ayurvedic and green lifestyle, we have created a vegetarian environment free of tobacco, drugs, chemical products & artificial scents. We ask our interns to respect these guidelines. 
You may want to bring indoor slippers, walking shoes, seasonal clothing, a swimsuit, journal, notebook and camera.

 

 

Local Activities

During your free time, you may be interested in spending time in nature or attending spiritual activities. 

Natural Springs
Freshwater springs and rivers for swimming, kayaking, scuba diving & snorkeling. (30-min drive) www.floridasprings.org

San Felasco State Park
One of the few remaining mature forests in Florida, with miles of nature trails for hiking, biking, bird watching and horseback riding. (10-min drive) www.sanfelasco.net

Spiritual Temples
Raise your vibration at two local temples which offer daily meditation, kirtana (spiritual music), yoga and guest speakers.

Kanapaha Botanical Garden

Visit the oldest city in the United States, see historic architecture and picnic next to the waves on the beach. (1.5-hour drive) www.oldcity.com

 

Prices

First Month: $780
Room & board with vegetarian meals, yoga classes, meditation, workshops, Ayurvedic cooking classes, a 25% discount on all of our services, a health consultation and one Royal Spa Panchakarma treatment (valued at $300).

Second Month: $500
This extension is determined after two weeks of stay.

Third Month: Free
This extension is determined after two weeks of stay.
